Treasure trove

My 15-month-old son has recently lost his interest in illustrated books, but he loves books with actual photographs. He's learning to identify things in his environment, and it's obvious that's where his interest is at the moment. This book is perfect for him right now, and he's fascinated with flipping through the pages, pointing to various objects, and (sometimes) repeating words when I identify them.
This book is a treasure trove of beautifully photographed images. It boasts over 400 pictures, each clearly labeled. From parts of the body to gardening tools, from modes of transportation to musical instruments, from types of weather to objects around the house - there's so much to pore through and discuss. There are also pages showing letters and numbers couched in unusual settings - on blocks, in tiled mosaics, or on neon signs.
My son is a bit young for most of the discussion questions that line the sides of each page, but they're perfect for preschoolers and even early elementary schoolers. The questions include simple ones like "Can you find the cat?" as well as more complex ones such as "Which animals are slow?" or "What time is it on the clock?" This is a book we'll use and treasure for years to come.

Good book but I would suggest for older children (2.5 plus)

This book contains A LOT of pictures. Good quality pictures and they are organized well. But compared to books we have bought before for our 23 month old daughter they are much smaller on average. There is an excellent page on colors that you can see if you use the search inside function on Amazon. Great idea but each color is very small.
There is also more crammed on a page than previous books we have used. I think it is too much information, information overload in fact for at least a 2.5 or maybe even as recommended 3 year old at least.
That being said for 3 year olds or so it seems it will be an excellent way to learn new words or keep up reinforcing vocabulary and it has enough labeling that it can help for beginning readers. It is also very well constructed. Recommended for 3 or so plus.We are going to store it away and bring it out in a half year or so.

15-month-old LOVES this!

My baby loves this book so much that she actively looks for it first thing in the morning, picks it up and licks the pages! She loves to point to each thing and sometimes repeats the word of the object after I do. She also goes through and points and names the objects she knows like ball, bear, etc. I would recommend it to anyone with young children as a great, fun learning tool. The images are clear and the pages are easy to comprehend. Great book!
